In order that the curriculum of the International Master's Degree Programme in Buddhist Studies may be conducted effectively and efficiently in accordance with the policies and aims of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University.
By authority of Article 27 (1) of the Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University Act of 2540/1997 and by resolution of the Committee of the International Master's degree Programme in Buddhist Studies, meeting in session 2/2546, 28 October 2546/2003, the following regulations are established.
Section 1
General Provisions
Item 1. This regulation shall be called "regulations Governing the Granting of Scholarships for the International Master's Degree Program in Buddhist Studies, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, B.E. 2546/C.E. 2003".
Item 2. The Regulations Governing the Granting of Scholarships for the International Master's Degree Program in Buddhist Studies, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University announced on 14 October 2546/2003 are hereby cancelled.
Item 3. This Regulation shall take effect on the day following its announcement, and shall continue in effect thereafter.
Item 4. In this regulation:
"Committee" shall refer to the Administrative Committee of the International Master's Degree Programme in Buddhist Studies.
Section 2
Types of Scholarship
Item 5. Scholarships are divided into three types.
5.1 Scholarships for non-Thai nationals shall be called "International Student Scholarships".
5.2 Scholarships for exemption from tuition fees shall be called "Tuition Scholarships".
5.3 Scholarships supporting thesis research and writing shall be called "Thesis Scholarships"
Section 3
Value of Scholarships
Item 6. The monetary value of a scholarship shall be in accordance with the type of scholarship.
6.1 International Student Scholarship: not more than 200,000 Baht.
6.2 Tuition Scholarship: not more than 54,000 Baht
6.3 Thesis Scholarship: not more than 25,000 baht
Section 4
Conditions for Granting Scholarships
Item 7. General Conditions
7.1 Applicant must be fully qualified according to the standards designated by the University.
7.2 Applicant must be a registered student of the Graduate School International Programme.
7.3 Applicant must maintain proper conduct.
Item 8. Specific Conditions
8.1 International Student Scholarship
8.1.1 Applicant is a non-Thai national and is an ordained Buddhist novice, monk, or nun possessing legal permission to enter and to remain in Thailand.
8.1.2 The duration of the scholarship grant shall not exceed four consecutive normal academic terms.
8.1.3 Scholarships will be granted beginning the first or second term of the first academic year depending on the individual case.
8.1.4 Thesis title and proposal must be approved before the end of the first term of the second academic year.
8.1.5 A passing grade must be achieved in all courses and a cumulative GPA of not less than 3.50 must be maintained.
8.1.6 Thesis must be completed within the duration of the scholarship.
8.1.7 International Student Scholarship recipients are ineligible for the Tuition Scholarship
8.2 Tuition Scholarship
8.2.1 Applicant must be a student of the International Program.
8.2.2 The duration of the scholarship grant must not exceed three normal academic terms.
8.2.3 Scholarships will be granted beginning in the first or second term of the first academic year depending on the specific case.
8.2.4 A passing grade must be achieved in all courses and a cumulative GPA of not less than 3.00 must be maintained.
8.2.5 In the case that there are more applicants than available scholarships, applicants shall be considered in the order specified by the committee.
8.3 Thesis Scholarship
8.3.1 Applicant must be a student of the International Program.
8.3.2 The duration of the grant shall not exceed three consecutive normal academic terms.
8.3.3 Only those applicants will be considered whose thesis proposal was approved before the first term of their second academic year.
8.3.4 The thesis title must have value and must have the approval of the Thesis Examination Committee.
Section 5
Distribution of International Scholarship Funds
Item 9 The distribution of International Student Scholarship funds shall conform to the following standards.
9.1 Funds matching the actual cost of University fees, tuition for coursework and tuition for thesis writing may be distributed for not more than four academic terms.
9.2 Funds may be distributed matching the actual cost of textbooks and materials, but not exceeding 60,000 Baht, or approximately 15,000 Baht per academic term.
9.3 Funds may be distributed matching the actual cost of living quarters and transportation, but not exceeding 6,500 Baht, or approximately 1,625 Baht per academic term.
9.4 Funds may be distributed to cover other living expenses, but not exceeding 72,000 Baht, or approximately 3,000 Baht per month.
Item 10 Tuition Scholarship funds may be distributed for the actual cost of coursework tuition for not more than four consecutive academic terms.
Item 11 Thesis Scholarship funds may be distributed as the thesis progresses, but not exceeding 25,000 Baht.
Section 6
Application Procedures
Item 12 International Student Scholarship
12.1 Scholarship applicant shall complete and submit the application form specified by the Graduate School International Program, along with his/her first term transcript, to the Director of the International Master's Degree Program for consideration by the Selection Committee.
12.2 Scholarship recipient must submit his/her transcript for each term to the Director of the International Programme in order to request scholarship funds for the following term
Item 13 Tuition Scholarship
13.1 Scholarship applicant shall complete and submit the application form specified by the Graduate School International Program, along with his/her first term transcript, to the Director of the International Master's Degree Program for consideration by the Selection Committee.
13.2 Scholarship recipient must submit his/her transcript for each term to the Director of the International Programme in order to request scholarship funds for the following term.
Item 14 Thesis Scholarship
14.1 Scholarship applicant shall complete and submit the application form specified by the Graduate School International Program, along with his/her first term transcript, to the Director of the International Master's Degree Program for consideration by the Selection Committee.
14.2 Scholarship recipient must submit his/her thesis progress report from the Thesis Management Committee to the Director of the International Programme in order to request scholarship funds for the following period.
Section 7
Payment and Cancellation of Scholarships
Item 15 The number of available scholarships and the monetary value of payments shall be determined annually by the Administrative Committee of the International Programme and shall be published annually.
Item 16 Scholarship cancellation
16.1 The Graduate School, with the approval the Administrative Committee of the International Programme, may consider terminating scholarship payments in the following cases.
16.1.1 Recipient's cumulative GPA falls below the required level.
16.1.2 Recipient receives a grade of "F" for a course.
16.1.3 Recipient fails to obtain approval of thesis title and proposal within the specified time frame.
16.1.4 Recipient loses his/her standing as a student.
16.1.5 Recipient leaves the course of study.
16.1.6 Recipient engages in improper conduct.
Item 17 This regulation shall be enforced by the dean of the Graduate School and the Director of the International Master's Degree Program.
